What does the Chamber of Commerce do?
The Chamber of Commerce was created for the advancement of the commercial, industrial, civic and general interests of the region.
Where is the Chamber office located?
The office is located at 537 W. Main St. Mount Pleasant in the In-Town Shops Building.
What area does the Chamber represent?
We now represent businesses in Mount Pleasant, New Stanton, Scottdale, Norvelt, Champion, Acme and the surrounding areas.
Is there someone available to answer my questions?
The Chamber office is staffed Monday
through Friday from 8:00 to 3:00 with exceptions. (Example: meetings) You may reach us at 724-547-7521.
Should my business or organization belong to the Chamber?
The answer is a definite YES. While there is not enough space to list all the benefits of a Chamber membership, it is an excellent source for networking, advertising, employment and business issues and the major thing to remember is: We work for you.
Is the Chamber active on educational issues?
The Chamber is very active with the schools and awards scholarships to students from Southmoreland and Mt. Pleasant High Schools. We also sponsor a Student of the Month at Mt. Pleasant. This program will most assuredly increase in the future. The chamber is also active with the School to Work Program, which helps businesses and schools address the employment concerns of the present and future.
What else does the Chamber do for the Communities?
Throughout the year, the Chamber helps sponsor social and cultural events in the area. We also have a strong commitment to the historical preservation of this area.
Is the Chamber active on government issues?
The Chamber has great communication with all the local, county, and state politicians. They keep us updated on all the issues facing our region. We in turn communicate our concerns and those of our members. We are also a member of the Pa. Chamber of Commerce who are extremely active on a state and national levels. They in turn filter the information down to our Chamber.
Does the Chamber support tourism in the area?
With all the great historical and cultural exhibits and events in the area, it would be hard not to support tourism. We also have some of the best shopping in the state with an array of specialty shops and an equal number of fine dining establishments. We are also a member of the Laurel Highlands Visitors Bureau.
